Concra Wood Golf Club is a new club that opened in 2008, it boasts an 18 hole, par 72 Championship course laid out over 7300 yards off the back tees, and is situated in Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan. The golf course at Concra Wood was designed by two of Ireland’s golfing legends: Christy O’Connor Junior and Senior.
This parkland course has been designed around its remarkable landscape, Lough Muckno and woodland creating a course that
- both is aesthetically pleasing and challenging,
- it blends into its surroundings seamlessly.
- These natural elements also contribute to the challenge of the course,
- the lake almost surrounds the entire course,
- creating natural hurdles.
The course has a nice layout and flows well, there is a nice variety of holes, each with their own feature. On many of the holes you can only see them when you stand on the tee adding a nice level of excitement to your game. It is quite a hilly and long course, so a buggy might be the way to go here. The course offers challenges to all level of player.
You will find the course to be in pristine condition, it has some huge bunkers, large greens that are on the fast side and the fairways are generous, the rough is relatively light. Overall it is a delightful course to play. The facilities here are excellent, there is a putting green and practice driving range to warm up before hand.
The clubhouse is modern and being located at the highest point offers the most amazing views of the course, simply stunning.Lough Muckno is spectacular are as the views that stretch across the Monaghan Drumlins to the surrounding mountains. The lough creates one of Ireland’s most beautiful and evocative settings for golf, it is a truly unique setting that will enthral all who play or visit here.
