The National Aquatic Centre is an indoors aquatic facility and is located in Dublin. The centre contains a number of facilities including, a 50m swimming pool, diving pool, leisure pool and fitness centre. It is one of the world’s biggest indoor water centres and plays host to a number of national and regional aquatic events. It is one of the country’s top attractions with an array of thrilling features offering a host of fun for all visitors, and the best thing is that the weather will always be good here.
The leisure area is known as, AquaZone, it is a fun and popular attraction for visitors of all ages, it includes, adventure water rides as well as a children’s play pool and wave pool. There are three water slides, the Dark Hole, the Green Giant and the Master Blaster, there is also a surfing machine, bubble pool and a Lazy River, this takes guests on a leisurely float around a wave pool at two miles an hour, on a relaxing 120 metre ride, the trip takes about ten minutes. The Pirate Ship is for smaller children and contains small slides, a mushroom waterfall and cannons. It is home to some of the biggest and best water rides and attractions in Europe.
The fitness centre, ToneZone, is a health club and gymnasium home, and features the latest state of the art cardio-vascular and resistance equipment. There is also a fitness studio and a dedicated spinning room. Other amenties are a sauna, steam room and spa relaxation area.
It houses Ireland’s first Olympic standard pool. A 10-lane 50 metre x 25 metre swimming pool that can be configured for various uses.
The centre also has a cafe selling refreshments and lunches.
The National Aquatic Centre opens daily throughout the year however, the AquaZone section only opens on school holidays and at weekends.
