Ardglass Golf Club is located along the beautiful County Down coast, it is an 18 hole classic links course, par 70 and 6268 yards, that was formed back in 1896 as a 7-hole course, making it the oldest in the country, in 1970 it became an 18-hole course, with a redesign in 1990 by David Jones. This links course blends seamlessly with the landscape, with nature playing a large role here, the course hugs the coastline, eight of the holes are along the coastline. There are views of the rugged and stunning coast line from all holes on this course, on a clear day you can see across the Irish Sea to the Isle of Man. The majesty of the Mourne Mountains provide an ideal backdrop to this beautiful course. There are dramatic elevation changes in the course and some interesting holes with a great layout making the most of its surroundings. Its location means that winds are a common factor and along with meandering fairways you need to ensure total accuracy from tee to green. When you play here you are completely at the mercy of the elements.Ardglass golf course is one to savour with some exceptional holes, particularly the first five holes that are located along the edge of the cliff, these are truly memorable. The fairways are well tended and quite flat, greens are true and fast and there are some tricky bunkers. It is an excellent course and is links golf at its best. Ardglass is an extremely challenging test of golf for all level of player. The clubhouse is in a 13th century castle, considered to be the oldest building to be used for this purpose, a unique and interesting setting.
