Located in the South West of Ireland, it is considered to be one of the finest 18 hole parkland golf courses in the Country. It is enjoys an enviable position on the Dromoland Estate amongst 450 acres of shady woodland and rolling pastures.
An impressive backdrop of this wonderful course is 16th century baronial Dromoland Castle. Despite its regal splendour it has an unpretentious nature. The club was established in 1961 and has underwent some changes over the years, and has been delighting golfers for numerous years. The course is a par 72, measuring 6,824 yards from the mens tees and 5,242 yards for the ladies.
Owing to its setting the course winds it way through rolling hills, century old trees, a lush landscape and water hazards in the forms of lakes and streams. The course has a fantastic layout around the natural lake and the setting is spectacular. It is excellently designed and you will struggle to find a weak hole here, there is a nice mix of long and short holes.
There are some fabulous risk and reward holes that will test all your skills.
The course is brilliantly maintained and the upgrades have been so symapathetically done you cannot distinguish the old holes from the new. The fairways are fantastic, all the greens have undulations and are extremely quick and true as well as being quite tricky. There are a few blind spots, well-placed bunkers and fescue rough that necessitates an accurate shot.
