It is often referred to as a seaside parkland, owing to its location, and has a strong American design influence.The course has a lovely layout, the course has been designed using the natural terrain to its best advantageous, whilst retaining a wealth of historical features. Features of the course come from the natural surroundings, with mature trees, flurries of gorse, natural water features and the Atlantic Ocean feature prominently. A plentiful use of bunkers provide another aspect of this course.With ever changing wind speed and directions this Championship golf course plays differently every day presenting a significant challenge to even the lowest handicap golfers, it is a course that necessitates accuracy between the bunkers, yet it is a true and fair test of golf.
