My friends and I had talked about doing a golf trip to Ireland for a few years but never started the process. After hearing about the great trip some other friends had I took their referral and called Fairway and FunDays. I wasn’t sure where to start or the right questions to ask, all I had was a wish list of courses and rough idea of dates. I reached out to Fairways and FunDays and was connected with Paul. From our first discussion I knew I made the right call. He asked me a bunch of questions about, location, cost, dates etc. I didn’t realize it but he was building a profile to make our trip. After a lot of back and forth, he was tremendously patient with all of my questions and there were a lot, he put together a 7-round, 7-day trip with a home base out of Killarney, with a driver, tee times, caddies and even golf carts, aka buggies. Even after the trip was booked, Paul was there to expertly answer, what must have felt like, my endless stream of questions. I have planned trips in the U.S. for years but going abroad is a different animal. I didn’t realize it at the time but he was always a few steps ahead of me. When we got our initial tee times, he knew we would need to change a few. When we wanted to add a round the day we arrived he was ready. He knew what we wanted, and more importantly what we needed before we did.
Paul met us at the airport in Shannon with Tomas, our driver for the week. After introductions and collecting our bags and clubs, Paul went through our itinerary and gave me a binder with everything I could possibly need for the week. He turned us over to Tomas to get us to the hotel and our first tee time.
What followed was the greatest golf trip anyone could have planned. Courses INCREDIBLE! Hotel Amazing (you must stay at The Great Southern {Breakfast is out of this world}), Scenery; Breathtaking, and the people were so amazing. Tomas guided through small towns, scary roads, the mountains, the coast and shared all of his knowledge. He was a truly a man that knew everyone. He even called a friend who got us in to his restaurant for dinner the first night. Tip: Don’t play golf with Tomas for money. That seemed to be a theme, he is quite the legend. We spent our time Pub hoping, listening to great music and even made Tatler Jacks our new watering hole.
I could go on and on with how amazing our trip was. I will just say if anyone who has ever thought of, or is thinking of, going to Ireland for golf CALL Fairways and FunDays, they will put together a trip that truly fits your needs. Trust their team and ask for Paul, he will make it all happen for you. And demand Tomas as your driver you will not regret it.
A 5-star rating just doesn’t seem like enough. I have encountered 5 star and what Fairways and FunDays did for us was so far beyond that I am raising it to 10 Stars. Thank you to everyone who made a bucket list trip a true dream vacation. We will never forget it.
My only regret is that after seeing Paul at the airport we didn’t connect again. We had no issues at all so there was no reason to call him for help. Thank you Paul, for everything.
